Arsenal knocked out of the Champions League

It was a shocking afternoon for the Gunners as they were knocked out of this year’s UEFA Women Champions League by unfancied French side Paris FC.

Jonas Eidevali’s side were held to a goalless first half before falling behind in the second half conceding two goals in two minutes thanks to a brace from Matilde Bourdieu.

Arsenal responded through Alessia Russo who opened her Arsenal goal scoring account and Jen Beattie equalised deep into injury time, [96th minute] to force the game into extra time.

Paris took the lead again in the 106th minute through Daphne Corboz but once again Alessia Russo was on target once again to draw Arsenal level.

Nigeria International, Chiamaka Nnadozie was key for Paris as she saved Frida Mannum and Alessia Russo’s penalties to earn her side a 4-2 win in the penalty shoot-out.

This loss means last year’s semi-finalists are out of this season Champions League.
