Chelsea and Red Devils Legend bows out of Football

A shocking moment it was indeed on Tuesday morning as Chelsea legend Eden Hazard bowed out of professional football after 16 years playing the beautiful round leather game.

The former Lille, Chelsea and Real Madrid player, a joy to watch especially during his time at the Stamford bridge,donning the iconic no 10 jersey for the blues displaying so much talent and dribbling skills,much to the joy of Chelsea fans who adored the Belgian maestro.

After playing for one decade and six years, Eden Hazard is one of only four players in Premier League history to score 15+ goals and provide 15+ assists in a single season which was in the 2018-19 season with 16 goals and 15assists.
The others being Thierry Henry,Matt Le Tissier and Eric Cantona.

The Belgian international won lots of laurels amongst which are:
2 Uefa Europa League, 2 SpanishLaLiga titles,2 Premier League trophies, the Copa del Rey ,the Supercopa de España,the Carabao Cup,the English FA Cup,the Coupe de France,Uefa Champions League,the Ligue1 trophy and 1 Club World Cup trophy.

Ex teammates and opponents like Chelsea team mates Willian and Juan Mata have paid tribute to the former Chelsea player.
Paris St Germain superstar,Kylian Mbappé also sang his praises.

Eden Hazard played 352 games for Chelsea in total, scoring 110 goals and providing 92 assists for the Blues.

He was also successful with his National team,scoring 32 goals in 108 appearances.

However,the Belgian had a very unsuccessful stint at the Los Blancos, Real Madrid after a transfer from Chelsea to the Spanish Giants in 2019, bagging just 4 goals and 9 assists in 54 Laliga Games with just 7 goals and 12 assists in all competitions.

Eden Hazard had a disappointing spell at Real Madrid riddled by injuries.

The Chelsea Legend said in a statement posted on his social media:

“After 16 years and more than 700 matches played, I have decided to end my career as a professional footballer.”

“I was able to realize my dream, I have played and had fun on many pitches around the world.”

“During my career I was lucky to meet great managers, coaches and teammates — thank you to everyone for these great times, I will miss you all.”

“I also want to thank the clubs I have played for: LOSC, Chelsea and Real Madrid; and thanks to the RBFA for my Belgian Selection.”

“A special thank you to my family, my friends, my advisors and the people who have been close to me in good times and bad.”

“Finally, a huge thank you to you, my fans, who have followed me for all these years and for your encouragement everywhere I have played.”
