Do You Know About A Sport Called Futsal?

Futsal is a football-based game played on a hard court like a basketball court, smaller than a football pitch, and mainly indoors. It has similarities to five-a-side football and indoor football.

Futsal is played between two teams of five players each, one of whom is the goalkeeper. Unlimited substitutions are permitted. Unlike some other forms of indoor football, it is played on a hard court surface marked by lines; walls or boards are not used. It is played with a smaller, harder, lower-bounce ball than association football. The surface, ball, and rules favor ball control and passing in small spaces.

The two most important governing bodies of futsal are the Asociacion Mundial de Futsal (AMF) and Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). Futsal started in 1930 when Juan Carlos Ceriani, a teacher in Montevideo, Uruguay, created a version of indoor football for YMCA.

Futsal is a sport that has helped a lot of talented footballers across the world most especially South Americans, from Ronaldinho to Great Pele, Neymer Jr, and Lionel Messi. Lionel Messi said in 2012, “When I was a young boy in Argentina, I played futsal in the street and a in club. It was great fun and helped me become the player I am today” Ronaldinho also said that most of his moves originated from futsal, and till today his ball control is similar to futsal because the ball control in futsal is different from soccer because of the small space.
