Heung Min Son;Underrated or Bang Average

A combination of good finishing,pace,attacking prowess and leadership qualities is a large part of what is inherent in the South Korean and Tottenham Hotspurs captain,Heung Min Son who is widely known as the greatest player to have come out from Asia.

Seen as a silent killer in football games,Heung Min Son plays for Premier League club Tottenham Hotspurs,under current manager Ange Postecoglou.

Son has netted 9 games and provided 2 assists in 14 Premier League games this season for Spurs and has helped them to climb into the top five this current campaign.

Heung Min Son started his senior career at Hamburger SV II and Hamburger SV in Germany at 16 years where he netted 21 times in 79 appearances before his moved to Bayer Leverkusen in 2013 where he scored 21 goals in 62 appearances during the space of 2 years before signing for Tottenham for 22 million Euros to become the most expensive Asian player in history.

At Tottenham Hotspurs,Son became the Asian player with the highest number of goals in the Premier League and the Champions League,surpassing Cha Bum-kun’s record as the South Korean with the highest number of goals in Europe.

Few years down the line,Son also became the second Asian to reach the final of the Europe’s most coveted club competition,the Champions League.

In the 2021/2022 Premier League campaign,Son won the Golden boot award with Egyptian prodigy, Mohammed Salah, netting 23 goals in the process,a feat which an Asian had never achieved.

Son has also won gold for his country in the 2018 Asian Games and has also represented South Korea in the same competition in 2011,2015 and 2019,winning silver in 2015.

Heung Min Son is a constant goal threat and can operate almost anywhere across the front line, including playing as a false nine.

He formed an excellent partnership with English goal machine Harry Kane and the two went on to be one of the deadliest partnerships in world football helping Tottenham Hotspurs to the champions league final in 2019 which they lost out on to Liverpool and also the Carabao Cup final against Man City which they lost by a lone goal.

Overall at Tottenham Hotspurs,Son has scored 112 goals in 282 appearances at the North London outfit,producing impressive performances over the span of six years at the club.

Individually,he has won numerous and mind blowing awards such as the FIFA Puskás Award in 2020,the best footballer in Asia in 2014 and 2015 before winning it for 6 years straight,between 2017 and 2022.

He so won the award for the Korean FA player of the year in 2013,2014,2017,2019,2020,2021 and 2022.

Son won the award for the UEFA Champions League set piece goal of the season in 2015 and the Premier league Goal of the Month four times,the Premier League Goal of the month in November 2018 and December 2019,the Premier league goal of the season in the 2019/2020 season,the PFA fans’ Premier League player of the month in January 2018,the BBC Goal of the season in the 2019/3020 season among many other magnificent awards and the Tottenham Hotspurs Goal of the Decade between 2010 and 2019.

Heung Min Son is sadly, one of the most Underrated players in the English premier league,with so many awards to his name.
