Leandro Trossard on target again as Arsenal ease past Burnley,move to second place

Arsenal looked to put behind them,the disappointing,yet controversial loss to Newcastle United as they hosted Burnley at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners came into the game dominating play and limiting the clarets who struggled to sustain the press and this almost yielded rewards as Arsenal were close to taking the lead in the 6th minute through a header from Gabriel Malgalhaës after making a late run into the box during a corner kick.

Two minutes later,Burnley almost grabbed a lead of their own when after referee,Michael Oliver got in the way of the ball but Amdouni picked up the ball and took a shot which Raya just tipped over for a corner kick to Burnley.

Burnley were then starting to get a foot hold in the game, stringing passed together and getting beyond the press of Arsenal but couldn’t cause them any problems.

10 minutes to the half hour mark, Burnley were stretched,showing Scrappy defending which enabled Bukayo Saka to fire a curled effort towards the near post but Trafford dis just enough to keep the game tied.

6 minutes later,Bayer almost scored an own goal after another strike from Saka was deflected off him but Trafford was able to scramble and clear it off his lines.

On the half hour mark,Kai Havertz almost gave the Gunners the lead after a beautiful corner kick by Saka but he was caught under it and headed it over the bar.

Arsenal and Burnley just would not lie down with Burnley testing David Raya with all four of their shots,most especially after a misplaced pass by Zinchenko and the Gunners almost taking the lead but both defences remained resolute.

Burnley however caved in to pressure in the first minute of added time after the first 45,when Oleksandr Zinchenko put in another beautiful cross which Bukayo Saka headed down for Leandro Trossard to fire in from close range to get his 6th goal this season.

The first half however came to a close but it was exciting as David Raya had to pull four saves to deny Burnley and Trafford also pulling fantastic stops at the other end to deny Saka and Martinelli.

Burnley came straight into the action in the second half as Koleosho bursted down the left and went round David Raya but only to win a corner,2 minutes to the restart.

Arsenal were pegged back in the 54th minute when Koleosho again made a run, going last Tomiyasu and pulling the ball back,taking a slight deflection off Gabriel but falling down for Brownhill to take a strike which was just deflected beyond Raya to bring the Clarets back into the game.

Arsenal almost had a quick response when Gabriel Martinelli went through the Burnley defence but his low shot just saved by Trafford to keep his team in the game.

Burnley could not however hold on for long as Trossard whipped in a corner which William Saliba headed in from close range to grab his second Premier League goal for Arsenal.

Arsenal were not done yet as Leandro Trossard whipped in Arsenal’s 13th corner kick of the game which went off O’Shea but was hit by Zinchenko in a scissor kick style beyond Trafford who could do nothing but watch it go into his net in the 74th minute of the encounter.

9 minutes to the end of the 90,Mikel Arteta made a double change as Reiss Nelson and the recovering Eddie Nketiah came in for Bukayo Saka and goalscorer,Leandro Trossard respectively.

Arsenal were however condemned to finish the game with 10 men as substitute Fabio Viera was sent off for a lady challenge on Josh Brownhill which seemed accidental but he was given his marching orders.

Arsenal however ended the game on a winning note as they grabbed another win and are unbeaten in 38 Premier League home games against promoted sides (W33 D5), with this manager Mikel Arteta’s first home win against Burnley.
