The English Premier league (then referred to as the FA Premier League) was officially kick-started on August 15,1992 with the opening match at the Bramall Lane, home of Sheffield United FC.

The 22 inaugural members of the new Premier League were Arsenal, Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers, Chelsea, Coventry City, Crystal Palace, Everton, Ipswich Town, Leeds United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Middlesbrough, Norwich City, Nottingham Forest, Oldham Athletic, Queens Park Rangers, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur, and Wimbledon.
Of these, only six clubs have been ever-present in the Premier League: Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Manchester United have won the most titles with 13, followed by city rivals, Manchester City who have won seven. London teams Chelsea and Arsenal have won five and three titles respectively with Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City and Liverpool completing the teams to have won the Premier League with one title each.
The Premier League is in its 32nd season.
