Wildcard Elina Svitoliña has been the rave of the Women’s Draw after reaching the Semifinals defeating World No 1 Iga Swiatek in the Quarterfinals and will be hoping to go one step further and reach her first Grand Slam final while Aryna Sabalenka will hoping to secure a spot in the final and secure the No 1 ranking.

ELINA SVITOLINA VS MARKETA VONDROUSOVA

The first Semifinals are between two unseeded players as Elina and Marketa will be hoping to reach the final after defeating the No 1 and No 4 seeds respectively

Elina Svitolina defeated three Grand Slam Champions (Venus Williams, Sofia Kenin, Iga Swiatek) on her way to reaching her third Grand Slam Semifinals and also becoming the first wildcard to reach the Semifinals of a Major tournament since Sabine Lisicki in 2011.

Marketa Vondrousova defeated four seeded players (Veronika Kudermetova, Marie Bouzkova, Donna Vekic, Jessica Pegula) to reach this stage and will be hoping her amazing run will propel her to her 2nd Grand Slam final.

Elina leads the head-to-head series, 3-2 but Marketa has won the last two meetings in straight sets. Their most recent meeting was the 2021 Tokyo Olympics Semifinals where Vondrousova went on to win the silver medal while Svitolina won Bronze.

ARYNA SABALENKA VS ONS JABEUR

This match has got a lot on the line as Aryna and Ons will be looking to reach another Grand Slam final.

Aryna Sabalenka has the most Grand Slam wins on the WTA Tour this season with 17 wins while Ons Jabeur has the most wins on grass on the WTA Tour in the last three years worth 27 wins.

The quarterfinal win for Ons Jabeur against Elena Rybakina was a sweet result because she was defeated by Rybakina in the finals last year. The Tunisian will be hoping to defeat Sabalenka and become the first woman since Serena Williams in 2019 to reach back-to-back Wimbledon finals.

Aryna Sabalenka became the first player since Serena Williams in 2016 to reach the Semifinals of the Aus Open, Roland Garros, and Wimbledon in the same year after defeating Madison Keys 6-2,6-4. The Stakes are high for the Belarusian as she will be hoping to kill two birds with a stone, A win against Jabeur will ascend her to the No 1 ranking and also reach her first Wimbledon final.

Aryna Sabalenka leads the head-to-head series 3-1 and has won the last two matches with their recent encounter coming at the 2022 WTA Finals in Fort Worth which Aryna won in three sets.
